Does Vetty cater for Puppies and Kittens?

Not at this moment. Kittens and puppies require regular treatments in the first 6 months of their lives due to the fact they are growing really quickly. It is a good idea to weigh them each time you treat them to make sure the right size product is used. Once your pet has reached 6 months of age jump on board with Vetty, we’ll take care of things from there.

How often do I receive my Vetty Box?

Monthly, 3 monthly, or 6 monthly, depending on the product you choose. Either way, our packages are hand selected to make sure your pet has complete cover all year round.

Is there a minimum subscription length?

No, your subscription just carries on until you cancel. Vetty doesn’t charge you anything to cancel your order. It is important to note that your payments need to continue until you have fully paid for the product that has been sent to you, which is dependent on your treatment cycle. A treatment cycle is the length that a treatment lasts. Vetty dispatches products when pets are due for their next cycle. A payment term is the number of payments needed to pay for the full treatment cycle. The payment frequency can vary, depending on the customers’ selection. Payment frequencies consist of; Monthly, 3 monthly, 6 monthly, and yearly. Payment frequencies may not align to the treatment cycles resulting in the need to divide the overall cost of the treatment cycle by the term in order to establish payments for the payment frequency selected. Vetty provides the flexibility for customers to select their chosen payment term to best suit their household spending cycles. In effect, this means that the full cost of the product will need to be paid for over the payment term. Should a customer choose to cancel their treatment before the payment term is completed they will be liable to settle the outstanding amount. Visit our terms and conditions page for in-depth detail on how this works.

It’s just a matter of preference. Different brands have different treatment frequencies, so just pick the one that best fits your lifestyle. We’ll put together a package designed to fully cover your pet.

When will my Vetty box be shipped?

For your first treatment, allow 3-5 working days from the time that you ordered until your first box arrives as this is dependent on where you live. All following treatments will arrive at your door exactly when your pet’s next treatment is due.

Why did I only receive one product this time?

You receive each item as they are due. Some of our packages the Flea treatment lasts 6 months where the worming treatment lasts 3 months. So you will receive the wormer more frequently, and in some packages the flea treatment is monthly while the wormer is 3 monthly. Rest assured it is our job to deliver these to your door every time they are due :)If you have any further questions please email hello@vetty.co.nz.

Why did I receive a second wormer when I ordered a Flea and Worm combination treatment?

The majority of the Flea and Worm combination treatments don't treat all worms. This is why we give a broad spectrum 'top-up' wormer annually to ensure all parasites are treated effectively. This ensures your pets are completely covered year round.

Pet Health Concerns

What should I do if my pet has an adverse reaction to the treatment?

All the products we supply are registered for use with cats and dogs in New Zealand, and are very safe. It’s important to note that just as some humans, our pets can also be sensitive to certain medications. If your pet has a severe reaction and you think it may be an emergency, contact your local vet as soon as possible. If your pet is showing a milder reaction that doesn’t appear to be a veterinary emergency, then please feel free to email us on hello@vetty.co.nz or jump on the website and use the chat tool.

Why do I need to treat my pet for worms?

Worm eggs are prevalent in the environment and unlike fleas, intestinal worms are hidden away, ‘out of sight, out of mind’. So you might not think about them very much, but you really should! Some worms can produce up to 30,000 eggs a day! That’s a crazy number and shows why worms are so harmful to your pet’s health. Some eggs can survive up to five years on the ground and can be easily ingested when pets are sniffing around outdoors. Worms can also lurk inside the uncooked meat pets love so much, or inside the rodents they catch. They can even infect pets through the skin. Intestinal worms can also just as easily infect people. Often it’s the kids who are often closest to family pets putting kids at a higher risk of infection. The good news is you can take preventative action by worming your pets regularly. Worms can be life threatening, so be sure to keep an eye out for these symptoms. Keep in mind that symptoms may not present even though a pet has worm already. Symptoms Include:

  • A ‘Pot-Belly’ appearance, particularly in puppies and kittens

  • Weight loss

  • Poor or dull coat

  • Diarrhoea

  • Anaemia, including pale skin and gums

  • Depression

  • Tail skidding (that’s when pets drag their rear along the ground)

  • White segments in droppings, the coat and around the anus

  • Coughing

Product enquiries

Are Chewable treatments or Spot-on Treatments better?

Some products are definitely better than others. But that’s typically more to do with quality rather than the type of application. Vetty has you sorted when it comes to quality! All the products we supply are from trusted vet-recommended brands. Choosing between our spot-on or chewable products is really just a matter of personal preference. If your pet loves treats and isn’t fussy, chewables might be the way to go as they’re cleverly-disguised little treats. Some pets aren’t that easily fooled, so if your pet’s a fussy eater try our spot-on products.

How often should I treat my pet for fleas and worms?

Pets need constant protection against fleas and worms. Miss a treatment and those nasties will be back before you know it. But with so many different products on the market, there’s no general rule of thumb for the frequency of treatment. Depending on which product, you may have to treat monthly, 3 monthly, or 6 monthly. Some flea treatments also treat worms, and some don’t….confusing isn’t it?! Luckily with Vetty, you don’t need to worry about ‘how often’ to treat. Our vet-prescribed plans make sure your pet is fully protected against all parasites all year round.

My pet is still itching after flea-treatment?

Only adult fleas live on pets, so that’s the only stage of the fleas’ life cycle that flea treatments can target. The immature fleas lurk in the environment just waiting to hop onto your furry friend (or you if you’re unlucky)! That post-treatment itch happens because some of those teenage fleas manage to get a few bites in before your pet’s treatment kicks in. Keep these lurking fleas at bay by frequently cleaning your pet’s bedding with a hot water washing cycle, and vacuuming areas where your pet regularly hangs out. Products like ‘flea bombs’ can also help to reduce fleas in your home. Making sure you treat all animals in your household regularly is the best preventative measure.

Should I wait between treatments?

Yes - if you’re using separate products to treat fleas and worms, we recommended waiting 24 hours between treatments.

What products does Vetty use?

Vetty only uses Vet-prescribed flea and worm treatments.

Why do I need to flea my pet?

Fleas and ticks seriously damage your pet’s wellbeing. Adult fleas have a chemical in their saliva that causes an allergic reaction when they bite your pet. In most pets this causes uncomfortable itching. But for some, it can cause a severe allergic rash leading pets to over-groom and scratch themselves. This is distressing for your pet (and for pet parents). It can also lead to further coat and skin damage, and in some cases lead to bacterial skin infections. Fleas also carry one of the most common parasitic worms, the tapeworm. So when fleas bite your pet, or get swallowed during grooming, the tapeworm gets transferred and grows in your pet’s intestines.

Why do I receive a cat wormer with my flea and worm combination treatment?

Combination treatments for cats, such as Bravecto Plus, Broadline and Advocate, treat for the majority of worms but do not treat for tapeworms.Tapeworms are a common worm found in NZ cats and dogs and are carried by fleas. We recommend treating cats twice yearly with a standalone worm treatment that treats tapeworms. Don’t worry, we’ll take care of this in your plan. Just treat when your box arrives.
